Job description:

Program Assistant – Bath-Brunswick Respite Care
Pay: $21/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm
Benefits: Paid time off, sick leave, IRA match after 1 year

About Us
Bath-Brunswick Respite Care is a nonprofit organization that’s been bringing care, laughter, and connection to Midcoast Maine for over 37 years. Our adult day program is a welcoming space where participants with dementia and other age-related challenges find community, purpose, and joy, and where our staff and volunteers work together to make each day meaningful.

About the Role
We’re looking for a Program Assistant to join our close-knit team. Most days, you’ll be part of the action in our adult day program, helping lead activities, supporting Program Managers, and ensuring participants have a fun and engaging experience. Other days, you may lend a hand behind the scenes, organizing supplies, assisting with administrative tasks, or helping coordinate volunteers. If you’re flexible, creative, and love working with people, you’ll fit right in.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Assisting Program Managers during daily programming and providing support or breaks as needed.
  • Leading or participating in activities that enrich the lives of our participants.
  • Organizing and maintaining supplies for daily activities.
  • Collaborating with staff to plan and carry out engaging activities that meet diverse needs and interests.
  • Communicating kindly and professionally with families and caregivers.

You Might Be a Great Fit If You:

  • Enjoy variety and like every day to look a little different.
  • Bring warmth, creativity, and a sense of humor to your work.
  • Feel comfortable supporting older adults and their families with kindness and respect.
  • Work well both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Experience working with older adults or individuals with cognitive impairments is a plus, but not required.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, such as teaching, caregiving, or program coordination, is very helpful.

Why You’ll Love It Here
Our staff is a small, close-knit group that truly supports one another. We collaborate, laugh often, and show up for each other and for the people we serve. As part of a local nonprofit, you’ll know that the work you do each day makes a real and lasting difference in the lives of older adults and their families.
