Dealing With Dementia

Tuesday June 30th | 11:00am to 3:00pm | Bath, ME

Join Bath-Brunswick Respite Care for Dealing with Dementia, a free one-day workshop designed to support family caregivers caring for someone living with dementia. Developed by the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers, this four-hour program is facilitated locally by Rita Fraser from Spectrum Generations and provides practical tools, valuable education, and compassionate support for navigating the challenges of caregiving.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of dementia and learn effective strategies for managing difficult behaviors, reducing caregiver stress, and prioritizing their own well-being. The workshop covers six key topic areas, including:

  • Understanding dementia
  • Caregiving strategies and self-care
  • Managing care recipient behaviors
  • Accessing local resources and support

Beyond the educational content, the workshop also offers caregivers a welcoming space to connect with others who share similar experiences and to learn about community-based programs and services available to support them.

This workshop is completely free to attend, but there are only 12 spaces available, so contact Rita Fraser at 207-620-1678 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to reserve your spot.

The Red Folder Project

Tuesday August 4th | 10:30am

Caregiving comes with a long list of responsibilities, but have you thought about what would happen if you were suddenly unable to provide care? In the event of a medical emergency, who would step in, and what would happen to the person who depends on you?

This class will focus on preparing for the unexpected. We’ll explore questions like: Who has access to your home? Where could your loved one stay for a night or longer? Are your important documents organized and up to date?

Join us at the History Center in Westport Island (38 Ferry Road) for a thoughtful and practical conversation about planning for life’s “what ifs.”
