Caregiver Support Groups

Bath-Brunswick Respite Care provides two support group options for individuals caring for someone with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or other age-related cognitive challenges. These provide a supportive space to connect with others, share experiences, and gain insights from those facing similar challenges. Everyone is welcome, and no RSVP is required. Caregivers are welcome to join one or both support groups.

Caregiver Connect Series: Habitat For Humanity

Wednesday February 5th @ 4:15pm
In this informative meeting, Habitat for Humanity will focus on their Home Preservation Program, tailored specifically for seniors aging in place. Caregivers will learn about essential services designed to help older adults maintain safe, comfortable homes, including painting, landscaping, and minor repairs. Attendees will discover how seniors can partner with Habitat based on their income and needs, utilizing volunteer labor and donated materials to keep costs manageable. This session will highlight the importance of creating safe environments for seniors, fostering community connections, and preserving affordable housing options, all vital for enabling us to age safley in place.
 
This series is held at the Bath-Brunswick Respite Care Facility at 9 Park Street in Bath Maine. There will be snacks and refreshments available.

Caregiver Connect Series: Maynard Law Offices

Michelle Maynard from Maynard Law Offices in Topsham will discuss key topics such as Financial Powers of Attorney, which allow you to designate someone to manage your finances if needed, and Health Care Advance Directives, which ensure your healthcare preferences are known. Michelle will also explain guardianship and conservatorship, discuss financing options for long-term care, and outline the basics of MaineCare eligibility.

Caregiver Connect Series: Nutritionist Anita Nugent

We are excited to welcome nutritionist Anita Nugent, MS, RD, LD, CDCES, owners of Everyday Nutrition Associates in Brunswick, into our space. Anita will be sharing her expertise on the crucial topic of nutrition as we age, offering insights and practical tips for maintaining our health and wellness throughout our lives. Her knowledge and experience will help us better understand how our nutritional needs evolve over time and how we can make informed choices to support our well-being at every stage of life. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from an expert in the field!

Caregiver Connect Series: Fall Prevention

Christina Levesque Monroe, PT, DPT of Reform Physical Therapy in Brunswick will be speaking to us about fall prevention. This is such an important resource as we age!

Annual Art Show

Saturday May 3rd | 2pm-5pm

Bath-Brunswick Respite-Care is excited to invite the community to our annual art show! This special event highlights the incredible artwork created by our members through art therapy, a powerful tool in slowing cognitive decline. From paintings and sculptures to woven pieces and architectural designs, the display will showcase the creativity and skill of those we serve.

In addition to the art exhibit, there will be food, music, auctions, and more! We hope to see you there to celebrate the transformative power of art and support our members.

Caregiver Connect: Contingency Planning

Amy Berube from The Highlands will lead a discussion on contingency planning, focusing on the critical steps to take when a caregiver becomes unavailable due to health issues, death, or other unforeseen circumstances. She will explore strategies for ensuring continuity of care, addressing legal and financial considerations, and providing peace of mind for families in times of uncertainty. This session aims to equip participants with practical tools and knowledge to plan for the unexpected and safeguard the well-being of their loved ones.
